How to Automate a Digital Product Business With AI
You automate a digital product business with AI by splitting the work three ways: Pocketsflow's built-in automations run what happens on every sale, an AI agent connected to Pocketsflow's MCP server does the jobs you used to click through, and you keep refunds, payouts and disputes. Pocketsflow gives the AI 303 tools at https://www.pocketsflow.com/mcp, and selling on Pocketsflow has no monthly fee.
The rule that decides each job is simple. If it must happen every time without you asking, use a Pocketsflow automation. If it needs judgment or a quick answer, ask the AI. If it moves money back or out, do it yourself in the dashboard.
The seven steps to an automated Pocketsflow store
- Connect your AI to Pocketsflow's MCP server, in test mode first.
- Turn on the Pocketsflow automations that run on every sale and every signup.
- Hand the AI your product, discount and email chores.
- Let the AI answer order lookups.
- Read the Pocketsflow weekly report with the AI on Monday.
- Send Pocketsflow events to your other tools with webhooks.
- Keep refunds, payouts and disputes in your own hands.
Step 1: Connect your AI to Pocketsflow
Pocketsflow connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI and any app that supports MCP connectors with sign in. No API key changes hands. In Claude:
- On claude.ai or the desktop app, open Customize, then Connectors, click + Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name it Pocketsflow, paste
https://www.pocketsflow.com/mcp, click Add, then Connect. - Sign in to Pocketsflow and click Allow access.
In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http pocketsflow https://www.pocketsflow.com/mcp, then type /mcp, pick pocketsflow and choose Authenticate. Pocketsflow creates a key named "MCP: <app>" in the mode your dashboard is in when you click Allow. Switch the dashboard to test mode first and practice with no real money. Delete the key under Developers, then API keys, to disconnect.
Step 2: Turn on Pocketsflow's built-in automations
Pocketsflow automations run without a prompt, so they are the right place for anything that must happen every time. An AI agent only acts when you ask it.
- Email automations. A Pocketsflow flow starts on a purchase, a new subscriber, an open, a click, a tag, a new subscription or a cancellation. Steps send an email, wait, branch on a condition, split A/B, add a tag or call an HTTP address. You can build flows on any plan; turning one on needs an email plan, from $15 a month as of November 2026. Win-back emails need Growth, and browse abandonment reminders need Pro.
- Abandoned checkout recovery. Pocketsflow emails buyers who left checkout without paying. It is part of Growth ($49 a month as of November 2026) and is turned on per product. The AI can check what you lost with
get_abandoned_checkout_summaryon any plan, and turn recovery on withset_abandoned_checkoutonce you have Growth. - Weekly growth report. Pocketsflow emails it every Sunday at 23:59 UTC, free on every plan, with revenue, sales, visits, conversion and one next step.
Building flows is a dashboard job: Pocketsflow has no MCP tool that edits automations. See Pocketsflow email automations for the builder.
Step 3: Hand the AI product, discount and email chores
Pocketsflow's MCP tools cover the work that used to take ten clicks. Paste prompts like these:
- "Raise the price of my presets pack to $34." The AI calls
list_productsandupdate_pricing. - "Make WEEKEND15: 15% off everything until Sunday night." The AI calls
create_discount. Discount codes work on every Pocketsflow plan. - "Draft a newsletter about the new course, show it to me, then send it." The AI calls
create_post, thensend_postafter you say yes. Sending to your list needs an email plan.
Step 4: Let the AI answer Pocketsflow order lookups
Pocketsflow order tools are read only, so the AI can look but not change an order. "Find the order for maya@example.com and tell me if it was paid" calls search_store and get_order. "Why did yesterday's declined payments fail?" calls list_orders with the failed status and get_order_payment_details. The AI can then write the reply to the buyer, and send it with send_email when you approve.
Step 5: Read the Pocketsflow weekly report with AI
Pocketsflow's get_weekly_report returns the same report as the Sunday email. Ask "How did my store do this week, and what should I do next?" and the AI answers from your real numbers. The report's next step is picked in order: publish a first product, turn visits into a first sale, add an order bump, win back abandoned checkouts, send a newsletter, then invite affiliates. Turn the email off or on with update_weekly_report_settings.
Step 6: Send Pocketsflow events out with webhooks
Pocketsflow webhooks push events such as order.completed, order.refunded and invoice.payment_failed to your own server, a spreadsheet tool or a Slack bot. Ask "Send every completed order to https://example.com/hooks and test it" and the AI calls create_webhook and test_webhook. Each delivery is signed in the X-Pocketsflow-Signature-V2 header and carries an event id to deduplicate on. Webhooks are on every plan.
The six Pocketsflow tool groups in this guide hold 38 tools: 19 only read, and 19 change something. The chart splits them by group.
| Point | Read only | Change something |
|---|---|---|
| Products | 2 | 4 |
| Discounts | 3 | 4 |
| Newsletters | 4 | 6 |
| Orders and customers | 6 | 0 |
| Weekly report | 2 | 1 |
| Webhooks | 2 | 4 |

Step 7: Keep refunds, payouts and disputes human
Pocketsflow keeps money movement out of the AI on purpose.
- Refunds. Payment refunds happen in the Pocketsflow dashboard only. The
create_refundtool sets a refund policy, it never refunds a payment. - Payouts. The AI can read status, balance and past payouts with
get_payout_balanceandlist_payouts. Withdrawing and bank details stay in the dashboard. - Disputes. Pocketsflow is the Merchant of Record and handles chargebacks with the payment processor. You decide what evidence to send. On Pro ($119 a month as of November 2026), Pocketsflow's team drafts the response when you ask for dispute help.
When Pocketsflow automations beat an AI agent
Pocketsflow automations are the better choice for anything time-bound: a thank-you an hour after purchase, a reminder the day after a browse, a recovery email after a lost checkout. An AI agent acts only inside a chat you start. Use the AI for decisions and one-off work, and use automations for the rules. Every sale costs 4.7% + $0.30 on Pocketsflow as of November 2026, with no monthly fee; see Pocketsflow pricing.
