How to Sell a Course With AI in 2026

Chain6 min read

Apply it with your AI

To sell a course with AI, use Claude or ChatGPT to outline and draft the lessons, record them yourself, then sell the course on Pocketsflow and let the same AI run the store through the Pocketsflow MCP server. Pocketsflow charges no monthly fee and 4.7% + $0.30 per sale, handles sales tax as the merchant of record, and gives the AI 7 course tools for drip schedules, quizzes and completion stats.

What AI does well in a course, and what it does not

An AI model is good at structure: turning a topic into modules, writing lesson scripts, drafting quiz questions and writing the sales page. An AI model is weak at the part buyers pay for, which is your experience, your examples and your voice. Use the AI for the first draft and the busywork, then rewrite each lesson with your own stories. Pocketsflow handles the selling side, and its MCP server lets the AI do the store setup too.

How to sell a course with AI, step by step

  1. Pick the outcome. Ask the AI: "List 10 course ideas for [your audience] where the buyer gets one clear result." Choose the one you can teach from real experience. For more on this step, read how to choose an online course topic.
  2. Outline with the AI. Ask for 4 to 6 modules with 3 to 5 lessons each, every lesson ending in one action the student takes. Cut anything that does not serve the outcome.
  3. Draft scripts, then make them yours. Ask the AI for a short script per lesson, then add your own examples and mistakes. Record each lesson as a video, and ask the AI to turn each script into a worksheet or checklist.
  4. Create the course on Pocketsflow. Sign up free, create a product and choose Course as the type. Each episode gets a title, a description and a video, as a hosted link or an upload, and you can attach materials to an episode or to the whole course.
  5. Connect your AI to Pocketsflow. Add https://www.pocketsflow.com/mcp to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor as a connector, sign in and click Allow access. Pocketsflow creates an API key named "MCP: <app>" for the connection.
  6. Set drip, quizzes and the certificate. Ask the AI to open one lesson a week, add a quiz to each module and turn on the certificate. This step needs the Growth plan.
  7. Launch. Ask the AI for a checkout link and a launch discount code, then share the link with your audience.

Selling the course on Pocketsflow

Pocketsflow treats a course as a product type, so it uses the same editor, page templates, checkout and payouts as any other product. You can sell the course for a one time price or as a subscription. Buyers land on their course page the moment they pay. Pocketsflow is the merchant of record, so it adds the right sales tax or VAT for the buyer's country, files it and handles chargebacks. See the Pocketsflow courses page for the full feature list.

What you keep from each Pocketsflow course sale

Pocketsflow charges 4.7% + $0.30 per sale as of November 2026, with no monthly fee to sell. The chart shows what you keep from one sale at four common course prices.

A $49 course leaves you $46.40, a $99 course $94.05, and a $299 course $284.65. Drip content, quizzes and certificates come with the Growth plan at $49 a month; course products and the course page work on every plan.

The Pocketsflow MCP course tools

Pocketsflow's MCP server groups 7 tools under Courses. They manage what happens after the lessons exist: when each lesson opens, the quizzes, the certificate and who finishes.

Pocketsflow toolWhat it does
get_course_settingsEvery lesson with its release rule and quiz
update_course_settingsDrip rules, the certificate switch, unlock emails
upsert_course_quizCreate or replace one lesson's quiz
list_course_quizzes and delete_course_quizRead every quiz, or remove one
get_course_statsEnrolled, started and completed, per lesson and per quiz
verify_certificateCheck a certificate ID is real

A lesson can open right away, a number of days after purchase, or on a date. A quiz is single or multiple choice, with a pass mark in percent, and can block the next lesson until the buyer passes. Below Growth, update_course_settings and upsert_course_quiz answer FEATURE_LOCKED, and buyers see every lesson open.

Prompts to run a Pocketsflow course from a chat

  • "Open one lesson of my Pocketsflow course every 7 days after purchase, and email buyers when a lesson unlocks."
  • "Write a 5 question quiz for the module 2 lessons with a 70% pass mark, and make buyers pass it to continue."
  • "Turn on the certificate of completion for my course."
  • "How many buyers finished my course, and which lesson loses the most?"
  • "Create a 20% launch code for the course until Friday."
  • "Give me a checkout link for the course."

The last two prompts use create_discount, which works on every plan, and create_checkout_session. On the Growth plan, the AI can also add a workbook as an order bump with create_upsell.

What stays in the Pocketsflow dashboard

Pocketsflow keeps a few jobs out of the AI. You upload videos and build the lesson list in the course builder, and you refund a payment or withdraw a payout in the dashboard. The AI reads payouts but never moves money. For the full tool list, see the Pocketsflow MCP page, and to plan the lessons first, read how to create an online course curriculum.
