LearnWorlds vs Kajabi: Which Course Platform Is Better?

Pocketsflow Team··11 min read

LearnWorlds and Kajabi can both host and sell online courses, but they are built around different priorities. LearnWorlds is strongest when the learning experience itself is the product: interactive video, assessments, certificates, SCORM content, and a branded academy. Kajabi is strongest when a course sits inside a broader expert business with email campaigns, funnels, communities, coaching, and multiple offers managed in one marketing system.

That difference matters more than a long feature checklist. A training provider may happily trade advanced marketing automation for stronger instructional tools. A creator with a newsletter, podcast, membership, and flagship program may make the opposite choice. This LearnWorlds vs Kajabi comparison looks at the actual workflow, current public pricing, and the costs that appear after launch. Prices and plan limits were checked on August 16, 2026, but you should verify them before buying.

LearnWorlds vs Kajabi: the quick verdict

Choose LearnWorlds if you run a course-first academy, professional training business, or customer-education program. Its course authoring, interactive learning, certificates, learning paths, and SCORM support make it the more education-focused option. It also starts at a much lower monthly price, although the entry plan charges a fee for each paid enrollment.

Choose Kajabi if your biggest problem is connecting audience growth to sales. Kajabi combines products, a website, landing pages, email, funnels, automations, and community features. It costs more, but it may replace several separate marketing subscriptions. If neither platform feels quite right, compare the wider market in our guide to the best platforms for selling courses before committing to an annual plan.

Pricing and plan limits

LearnWorlds pricing

LearnWorlds lists Starter at $29 per month, or $24 per month when billed annually. Starter includes one admin and up to 1,000 active learners per month, but adds a $5.00 fee to every paid enrollment. Pro Trainer is $99 monthly or $79 on annual billing, removes enrollment fees, supports five admins and 2,000 active learners per month, and unlocks subscriptions, memberships, certificates, and up to 20 SCORM uploads. Learning Center is $299 monthly or $249 on annual billing and adds the higher-end branding and administration features expected by established academies.

Kajabi pricing

Kajabi lists a Starter plan at $89 monthly or $71 per month billed annually for one product and 250 contacts. Basic costs $179 monthly or $143 on annual billing, with up to five products and 2,500 contacts. Growth costs $249 monthly or $199 on annual billing and expands to 50 products and 25,000 contacts while adding advanced automations, affiliates, and branding controls. Pro costs $499 monthly or $399 on annual billing, with unlimited products, 100,000 contacts, three websites, API access, and custom-code options.

Do not compare the headline prices alone. Model the plan you will need after your first launch, including contact or active-learner limits, payment-processing charges, email volume, apps, tax tooling, and any enrollment fee. Annual prices lower the monthly equivalent but increase your commitment, so test the complete purchase and student journey before prepaying.

Course creation and student experience

LearnWorlds offers the deeper learning toolkit. You can structure learning paths, add assessments and certificates, make video more interactive, and use SCORM packages on eligible plans. Those features matter when completion, knowledge checks, compliance content, or formal professional development are central to the offer. Its academy model is also a natural fit for a catalog containing many instructors or related programs.

Kajabi provides a polished course builder and can drip lessons, organize modules, attach downloads, and connect learning to community and coaching. For a typical creator-led program, that may be entirely sufficient. Its advantage is continuity: a lead can join through a landing page, receive an email sequence, buy an offer, enter the course, and receive follow-up automation without the creator stitching together several systems.

Ask what you will actually measure. If the answer is quiz performance, course completion, certification, or structured learning activity, LearnWorlds has the clearer edge. If the answer is lead conversion, campaign revenue, upsells, and customer lifetime value across several offer types, Kajabi is usually the better-shaped tool.

Email, funnels, affiliates, and community

Kajabi wins the all-in-one marketing comparison. Unlimited emails and funnels are part of its current plan framing, while its higher tiers add more capable automations and an affiliate program. A launch can use a lead-magnet page, nurture sequence, checkout offer, order bump, course, community, and re-engagement campaign within one account. This reduces integration work and gives the team a more coherent view of each contact.

LearnWorlds includes sales pages, subscriptions, bundles, integrations, and affiliate capabilities, but it remains an LMS first. Many businesses will connect a separate email or CRM platform for more complex audience segmentation and campaigns. That is not automatically a disadvantage: a specialist email tool can offer more flexibility, and replacing it may not be desirable if your list already runs well.

Community should be evaluated with a real pilot, not a screenshot. Create two discussion spaces, invite ten test users, check notification controls on mobile, and run one live event. If community is the core product rather than a course companion, include dedicated community platforms in your shortlist.

Payments, tax, and the real cost of selling

A platform fee is only one part of commerce. LearnWorlds says Starter adds $5.00 per paid enrollment, while its higher plans remove that charge. It connects to payment providers such as Stripe or PayPal. Kajabi says it does not take a share of revenue, but payment-processing charges still apply. Processor availability and rates depend on country and payment method.

Also establish who calculates, collects, remits, and documents sales tax or VAT. Course hosting and tax responsibility are separate jobs. If the platform is not acting as Merchant of Record for your sale, you may remain responsible for registrations, filings, refunds, disputes, and compliant invoices. Ask both vendors for written answers covering your business entity, buyer locations, and chosen payment setup.

Pocketsflow takes a different commerce approach for creators selling courses, downloads, and subscriptions. It has no monthly fee and charges Itemized transaction cost (~$5.00 on $100), covering payment processing, VAT and tax handling, and Merchant-of-Record responsibilities through our payments partner. Built-in email, affiliates, and upsells are included. That is the lowest fee in the category compared with Gumroad at roughly 10%, Lemon Squeezy at 5% or more, and Payhip at roughly 5%.

A worked cost example

Imagine a creator sells 40 seats in a $149 course during one month, producing $5,960 in gross revenue. On LearnWorlds Starter, the listed enrollment charges would total an illustrative $200 before the $29 monthly subscription and separate processor charges. The platform and enrollment cost would therefore be $229, leaving $5,731 before payment processing, tax, refunds, and other business expenses. Moving to the $99 monthly Pro Trainer plan would remove the enrollment fee and save $130 in this simplified month, before considering its extra features.

The same $5,960 of sales through Pocketsflow would incur about a $292.00 fee at the itemized estimate (~$5.00 on $100 / 4.7% + $0.30), leaving about $5,668.00 after platform, payment infrastructure, tax handling, and dispute prevention — with no monthly plan. This is an illustrative comparison, not an earnings promise. Kajabi requires a different calculation: compare the subscription tier and payment-processing cost against the separate email, funnel, website, and community tools it could replace.

Which platform fits your business?

Pick LearnWorlds when your offer needs rigorous instructional design, interactive learning, certificates, SCORM, or a multi-course academy. It is especially compelling for trainers and education teams that already have marketing systems and want the LMS to specialize in delivery. For another course-first comparison, see LearnWorlds vs Thinkific.

Pick Kajabi when one creator business needs to run products, pages, email, funnels, automation, coaching, and community together. Its higher price is easiest to justify when it genuinely replaces multiple paid tools and reduces operational friction. If budget is the issue rather than course depth, our Kajabi alternatives guide covers other routes.

Pick Pocketsflow when you want a lean, commerce-first setup with no monthly platform fee, Merchant-of-Record handling, and predictable Itemized transaction cost (~$5.00 on $100) economics. It is a particularly practical starting point for validating a course or mixing courses with downloads and subscriptions without committing to an expensive LMS suite.

Run a seven-day platform test before deciding

Build the same minimum viable course in each finalist: one sales page, one checkout, three lessons, one downloadable resource, one email sequence, and one upsell. Invite a few testers to buy with a low-value coupon, learn on both desktop and mobile, request support, and ask for a refund. Record the steps that require manual work and the features that force an upgrade.

Then calculate a 12-month total using realistic contacts, learners, sales, processor charges, integrations, and tax administration. The best platform is the one that supports your actual business model with the fewest expensive compromises. If predictable commerce and a fast launch matter most, you can start free with Pocketsflow and pay only the itemized transaction cost (~$5.00 on $100) when you sell.
